Catholic College welcomes largest incoming class

Aug 10, 2017 - From staff reports

Wyoming Catholic College has welcomed to Lander the largest class in the College's history: 59 freshmen from 26 different states.

With this incoming class, the College's total enrollment will top 175 students - a 60% growth in the last four years.

"We are delighted to welcome our largest class ever," said college president Glenn Arbery. "These students from across the country show the national appeal of WCC. It's especially encouraging that with this dramatic growth, we have been able to maintain the caliber of students entering. From test scores, to high school GPA, to personal integrity, these are some of the brightest young Catholic minds."

Freshmen arrived on campus last week to participate in a variety of informational meetings and introductory activities. They will spend the rest of their week in a Wilderness First-Aid Course and in preparation for one of the most unusual orientation programs in the country: a three-week backpacking trip across the Wind River Mountains.

"This is more than just a fun camping trip for our students," said Thomas Zimmer, Assistant Professor of Leadership and Outdoor Education. "It's the beginning of the transformative formation they will receive here at Wyoming Catholic College. Over these three weeks, our students will grow in confidence and leadership skills, being called upon to make real-life decisions with real-life consequences. And they will grow in wonder as they experience God in His marvelous and beautiful Creation."
