Nov 21, 2012 - By Christina George, Staff WriterResidents who wish to have a free Thanksgiving meal delivered by the Riverton High School Key club can place orders trough 10 a.m. Thursday and still receive Thanksgiving Day delivery.
Key Club adviser Claire Peart said students and other volunteers will be assembling meals starting early Thursday morning at the James H. Moore Career Center on Thursday, with free home delivery to anyone who needs food for Thanksgiving.
Most meals are delivered by noon. The delivery area is Riverton and its immediate surroundings.
"There are no questions asked," Peart said. "This is a community service, and we do not want anyone to go hungry on Thanksgiving."
Thanks to community donations, the Key Club has enough food to prepare at least 500 meals consisting of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and several other side dishes, plus pie for dessert.
The meals are delivered by the volunteers covered, hot and ready to eat, although they can be refrigerated and reheated later.
There is no limit on family size for meal delivery.
"All we need is an address," Peart said.
There is no charge for the meals, and there is no tableware to return. Peart noted that some special dietary requirements can be accommodate when the orders are placed.
Anyone who needs a Thanksgiving meal may call to place an order for Key Club delivery at 851-6507.
