Riverton hosts Douglas for a pair of games this week.

Riverton won two hockey games last weekend against the Casper Oilers B team in the high school age division.

The Riverton River Rats dominated Casper 9-1 on Saturday and 6-1 on Sunday to compete the sweep.

Riverton is now 2-0-2 on the season. The River Rats tied Cody twice two weeks ago in the season openers.

"We had good team play in Casper. Our passing is improving," Riverton coach Lee Hanson said. "We didn't get ice on our rink until late. Our practice is improving more than anything. The Casper team is a pretty fair team."

The River Rats started practice with ice the week before Christmas.

Riverton players on the roster are Brian Lewis, Wyatt Griffin, Tristan White, Brett Cook, Robert Buline, Ian McMenamy, Jadon Heidt, Deyton Henry, Jace Hanson, Jasper Vail, Tyler Woodward, Logan Hartbank, Lars Becker, Cole Merly and Toby Lewis.

"We pretty much have the same team as last year," coach Hanson said."We had three players move up from last year."

Teams in the high school division are Cheyenne Capitals, Casper Oilers A, Gillette Wild, Casper Oilers B, Park County Ice Cats (Cody), Rock Springs Miners, Pinedale Glaciers, Douglas Ice Cats, Sheridan Hawks, Laramie Outlaws and Gillette Wild B.

The high school division is for players ages 15 and older.

"i think that we are pretty balanced this year," Hanson said. "We just need to have hard work and get everybody playing together."

The River Rats host Douglas this weekend at the Riverton Ice Arena. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Douglas is 3-4 on the season.

"Douglas will be a tough team," Hanson said. "Douglas didn't lose much from last year."

Cheyenne is 10-0 and the Oilers A team stands 9-0.

"Cheyenne and Casper are the favorites," Hanson said. "There are some teams that are kind of weak and some that are tough.

The games in the high school division have three 18-minute periods.
