Feb 7, 2013 - From staff reportsFive people have applied to fill the vacancy left on the Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees after Judy Pedersen resigned in January.
The list of applicants for the Subdistrict 2 seat covering Riverton and Shoshoni includes Gloria Philp, Nicole Schoening, Tim Payne, Phil Christopherson and Robert Heuermann.
Friday is the last day the board will accept completed applications in CWC President Jo Anne McFarland's office, though statements of interest were due Monday.
The candidates are required to attend the board's next meeting, which will begin at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at CWC's Intertribal Education and Community Center.
They will be interviewed separately but publicly during the meeting, and the board plans to select Pedersen's replacement that night.
The successful candidate is expected to take the oath of office and be seated at the board Feb. 20 as well.
Pedersen's replacement will serve on the board through November 2014. At that point, voters will elect someone to fill the remainder of Pedersen's four-year term.
Pedersen submitted her resignation verbally during the board's Jan. 16 meeting, two months after being re-elected.
The board officially accepted her resignation Jan. 23, after which it began advertising the vacancy through local media outlets.
